On Saturday, April 14th The United States, France and Great Britain joined forces in a missile strike in response to the Syrian government’s suspected use of chemical weapons.

The Pentagon has confirmed attacks on three Syrian facilities. The first being on the scientific research center which allegedly produced the chemical weapons. The other two were chemical weapons storage facilities, one of which also housed an important command post.

“I was very shocked and frightened when I learned of the air strike,” said senior Taylor Houghteling.

Syria’s commanding backer, Russia denounced the attacks but has given no signs of possible retaliation. The Russian Defense Ministry proclaimed that it did not deploy its air defenses. Russia also claimed that Syria used Soviet-made defense systems to strike down some of the missiles.

“It is always frightening to hear of any US involvement in a military strike,” said junior Amelia Tiesi.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry described the strike as “barbaric aggression” and their military claimed the strikes destroyed an educational center and research labs.

This is the second time President Trump has used military force against Syria in response to the alleged use of chemical weapons by the countries government, and leader  Bashar al-Assad.

Many Americans question if will these attacks stop the use of chemical weapons or just create more tension between the U.S. and Syria.
