Braves Race Against Other Seattle Schools

The boys Track and Field team has been busy the past week with an invitational last Saturday and a meet this past Thursday.

The Braves were invited to the Shoreline Invitational last Saturday, April 30th. The team participated against multiple other schools and each event had around 50 participants.

Stand out Braves were junior Joseph Halverson who placed 37th in the 400 meter race, junior Zachary Petrizzo who placed 29th in the 800 meter race, sophomore Parker Rathburn who placed 27th in the 1600 meter race, senior Peter Hogan who placed 12th in the 3200 meter race, and junior Jeremiah Stone who placed 11th in the 110 meter hurdles race and 2nd in the triple jump.

Our 4×400 boys relay team consisting of Petrizzo, Carter Custer, Taylor Barnes, and Halverson placed 22nd, Jordan Claveria placed 33rd in the 800g Javelin, Barnes placed 2nd in the long jump, and Zach Sugart and Barnes placed 1st and 2nd respectively in pole vault.

The team wasn’t as successful with their meet at Nathan Hale, against the hosting team and Ballard only a few came out on top.

Hogan placed first in the 3200 meter race, senior Bahati Ulwenya placed first in the discus event, and sophomore Simon Pope placed first in high jump.

Seniors Sugart, Barnes, and Grant Wilson placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the pole vault event. Barnes and Junior Jeremiah Stone placed 1st and 2nd in the long jump event and Stone also placed first in the triple jump.

The Braves head off to the first round of Metros next Wednesday, May 11th.
