This year’s Super Bowl seemed to be a sure shot for the Atlanta Falcons, as they ran over the New England Patriots going into halftime. However, this seemed to be the opposite in the second half as the Patriots came back from a seemingly impossible 21-3 score in Atlanta’s favor.

Super Bowl 51 was held in Houston, Texas at NRG Stadium on February 5, 2017. The New England Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34-28. The comeback was the biggest in Super Bowl history, and the biggest comeback in Patriots history. The MVP of the game was New England quarterback Tom Brady, who had a record setting performance with an unbelievable 466 yards, 43 of 62 passes completed, and two touchdowns. The first half of the game made many Atlanta fans confident in their team, as it seemed inevitable that they would pick up the win.

Some other notable performances included Atlanta’s Julio Jones with four catches for 87 yards, and New England’s James White with 14 catches for 110 yards. New England’s kicker Steven Gotskowski had a whopping 100% field goal percentage, making two out of two attempts, and New England’s Dion Lewis had one catch for two yards.

The scoring began with a Devonta Freeman 5 yard touchdown run, followed shortly after by Austin Hooper catching a pass from Matt Ryan to put the Falcons up 14-0. On more touchdown was scored in the second quarter. The only time the Patriots scored was a 41 yard field goal by kicker Steven Gotskowski. The Pats began their comeback in the third quarter, when James White caught a touchdown pass from MVP Tom Brady. A series of scoring followed, and it brought the score to 34-28 in New England’s favor. The Falcons only scored once in the second half, which is the opposite of how the first half went.
