Saturday, April 2nd the Braves headed south for a memorable trip to Arnie Rose Invitational track meet at Renton Memorial Stadium.

Junior Jeremiah Stone broke two school records at this meet, breaking his previous record set for hurdles with an impressive 15.14 and setting a new triple jump record of 46’4.

“This felt amazing, like a heavy weight was lifted off my shoulders” said Stone, “I remember hearing everyone cheer me on when I jumped 46’4. That’s never happened to me before and it made me happy.”

As a student transferring in this year, Zach Petrizzo competed in his first meet as a Blanchet Brave,  participing in the the 800 and 1600 meter dash races, and coming in second in the  400 meter dash.

“I thought the sense of community and competitive energy was positive to be around.” said Petrizzo, “I’m happy to be a part of this team!”

Junior Joseph Halverson came in first for the 400 meter dash. His goals for the season are to run faster and make it to districts. Halverson said that there are many new freshmen coming out for this year’s track season, and it really stood out to him.

“I feel like we hit some weaknesses at this competition,” said Halverson, “We need to work on the depth of our team from field events to running events.”

The Braves’ next chance to try their depth will be next on Wednesday, April 13th at Eastside Catholic.
