Bishop Blanchet JV Basketball Shows Promise

The Bishop Blanchet JV basketball team is hoping to start out the season on a good note. If they are able to win a couple games at the beginning of the year it could give them the momentum they need to succeed this season.

“We want the players to be dedicated,” said Coach Bruce Richardson. “We want them to be enthusiastic and to talk to one another. I hope they can place the team’s needs over the needs of the individual player.”

The team is made up of seven sophomores and two freshmen. They have the potential to finish with an impressive record at the end of the season.

“We have a good group of guys,” said Sophomore Patrick James. “Everyone works together well and we have good chemistry as a team. Grades are my priority off the court; but, when I’m playing, I give it my all.”

James is the only returning player for the JV squad, and he already has been able to mesh with the rest of the team. Hopefully it continues into the season.

“Playing on the JV team is a little tougher,” said Sophomore Jojo Wass. “Last year there wasn’t as much pressure to do well. Being on JV makes me want to work extra hard for a good season.”

Wass played Freshman basketball last year and has noticed a difference in the pressure of playing JV. It’s a higher level of play and he hopes to succeed on the JV team.
