Diving in with Determination

The boys swimming team is ready to put in their full effort and dedication to every practice, meet, and recently-added early morning dryland weightlifting.

“This is my first year coaching at Blanchet,”  said Kaelee McCloskey. “I spent most of my life swimming and wanted to coach at Blanchet to help other kids learn the sport that I loved so much.”

Coach Kaelee McCloskey adds her knowledge and excitement for swimming to build the team stronger. The other coaches, Meaghan and Michael, have been blown away with the boys swim team as they balance having fun and being serious and focused to be all-around successful. The team hopes to gain a new perspective and skills from coach Kaelee in their first season together.

“All three complement each other’s talents and strengths,” said head coach Mike McCloskey.  “They are organized, enthusiastic and set a great example of hard work for their teammates.”

This year’s swim captains are juniors Paul Codd and Jack Schrader and senior Arthur Wesley, all of whom have shown hard work and passion for the sport. They have all contributed to the outstanding dedication and team spirit at every practice and meet. This allows the team to perform to their best abilities while supporting their teammates.

“I think top 3 at the Metro League Championships is something that is very doable,” said coach Meaghan McCloskey. “We also want to get all 3 relays to state with as many individual qualifiers as possible.”

In effort to accomplish these goals, the team has added a morning weight and dryland program twice a week from 6:30-7:30am. This provides another step in the direction of improving the boys Blanchet swim team by focusing on getting in the best possible shape for competing.

The boys will be competing in their first meet Friday, December 2 versus Roosevelt. They race at 4pm at Evans Pool.
