The Blanchet women’s softball team had another successful week, taking down West Seattle and Chief Sealth.

On Monday  April 9th, the Braves traveled south of the city to take on Chief Sealth. They started the game off strong by scoring several runs early. It did not take long to get the job done, and the Braves won in three innings.

“Beating Sealth was a nice boost of confidence heading into out next game,” said senior Jessica Seagle.

With just one day of rest, Blanchet had a quick turn around for their next game against the West Seattle Wildcats, a Metro league powerhouse.

“West Seattle is a very good team and we all knew we would have to stay focused to beat them,” said senior captain Greta Geivett.

During the first two innings, the Wildcats challenged the Braves by running up the score by six runs.  However, the lady Braves were able to come together and began dominating West Seattle. They defeated them in just six innings. Cate Williams, Greta Geivett, Gianna Marchese, and Lily King each scored home runs. The final score was 18-6.

“It was a really fun game to play in,” said junior Cate Williams.

These two games were important for the Braves to win as they will boost the team’s overall record as they approach the off season.

“I am so proud that our players were able to pull through and run away with the win in the sixth innings. Go Braves and come out to Lower Woodland for one of our home games this week,” said Geivett.

Softball plays Cleveland at Lower Woodland on Wednesday April 18th.
